One of the biggest questions I keep getting from people these days is. Is it still worth it to set up a Subscription Box Business in 2023?
You may be on the fence about your Subscription box idea, and you are wondering if it is a good idea to push forward with this business.
Or you may be running your Subscription Box for a while, and you are thinking, is it worth it to fully commit to it 100% and put all of your efforts into taking it to the next level?
These are very natural thoughts to have, considering the way the economy is and the difficulties some businesses have these days.
My response to this is the following.
A Subscription Box Business has the potential to completely change your life (If you want it bad enough)
Listen, there is no easy business. Every single business requires effort, commitment, action, risk and the willingness to learn.
We set up BusterBox back in 2016, and none of us had a clue about what it would actually take to make a Subscription Box Business a success.
We started the business in a spare bedroom with barely any money whatsoever. I think it was about €3,000 in total. (and that was spread across three people over a number of months)
I was actually in debt from a previous business that failed and was paying it back at the time.
(This was a job marketplace, a very difficult business and wouldn’t recommend it to anybody, but that story is for another day, LOL)
The point I am trying to make is that there will never be a perfect time to set up a business.
It’s the same with an existing business. There will never be a perfect time to commit to it fully with the goal of taking it to the next level.
There will always be different things coming up in your personal life or in situations that are outside your control.
If you want to get anywhere and make your company successful, the worst sentence you can say is, “I am going to start tomorrow.” Or “I am going to wait until this happens or that happens before I start.”
You need to remove that thinking completely from your brain, and you need to start right now.
You need to take massive action repeatedly until you have reached your goal.
When you make your Subscription Box Business a success, I promise you it will completely change your life.
We have sold over $8 million worth of subscription boxes over the last few years.
We have reached thousands of humans and dogs all across Ireland and the UK who absolutely love our box.
This all started in a spare bedroom, with barely any money and little knowledge about this model and how it actually works.
One thing we did have, though, was the willingness to learn and the ability to take massive action.
You can do the exact same in your business.
No matter where you are in your life or what current challenges you are facing, you can make your company a success.
The best thing about a Subscription Box Business is that the barriers to entry are very low to set one up.
You don’t need to spend thousands on developers to design software.
You don’t need to risk your life savings to go into retail. You don’t need to take out a massive bank loan to buy stock for 12 months.
The barriers to entry are very low, but the upside is gigantic.
I know subscription box owners who have built million-dollar subscription boxes in a very short period of time.
All of their stories are very similar to mine.
They started from scratch, and they learned, and they tested, and they took action, and it has paid off massively.
If you want to know how my life has changed since we started our business, let me explain.
The most obvious thing is money. I hate to bring it up, but money is a big factor in why anybody decides to commit to a business.
I earn more money now than I ever did in any “normal job” I ever had in my life.
The other thing is Freedom. I have more freedom now than I ever did at any other point in my life.
I never hated any of my jobs, but what I did hate was the lack of freedom.
I hated the fact that I was on somebody else’s schedule, and I hated the fact that I had to ask permission to do anything. E.G Book holidays, take a day off etc…
When you get your subscription box business to a certain level, freedom is no longer a problem for you.
If you want to wake up later and go for a walk and go out for breakfast, you can do it.
If you want to take a longer lunch and work later in the evening, you can do it.If you want to take some time off to travel, you can do it.
Once you have your business set up properly, the sales are still going to come in, the renewals are still going to come in, and you’re still going to be getting paid..
So to answer these questions one more time.
· Yes, you should set up the subscription box business you are thinking about (It has the potential to be the best thing you have ever done)
· Yes, if you are running your business awhile, you should commit to it fully and give it the focus it needs to take it to the next level
I hope you found this post helpful. I am very passionate about this because I have witnessed it first-hand in my own life and in the life of many other subscription box owners.
If you have any questions about this or the subscription box business model in general, please post them below. Thank you, and have a great day.
